Transport Action has written a letter to Vance Badawey MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, expressing grave concern over VIA Rail’s deteriorating relationship with Canadian National.

Amidst VIA Rail’s long-overdue and drawn out negotiations of its legislatively-required Train Service Agreement, CN has imposed speed restrictions on VIA Rail’s new fleet through 80 grade crossings and is unwilling to share any technical details pertaining to its decision to do so, nor collaborated on a technical solution, something VIA is challenging in court. We request government attention into the matter to ensure that CN is operating in good faith on this critical safety issue.
