A train which has be conspicuously absent from the phased resumption of VIA Rail services following the pandemic is #651 from Kingston to Toronto, one of the few trains that arrives in Toronto from the east in time for the business day and serves all stops along the lakeshore. With train early #41 from Ottawa also not reinstated yet, residents of Cobourg and Port hope who need to travel into Toronto for work or other appointments have been left behind.

On December 16th, we wrote to Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra urging the prompt resumption of this service and its evening counterpart, to provide reliable transportation for eastern Ontario commuters.
